Comprehensive Care for Complicated Pregnancies

The Center for Maternal and Fetal Care is the place to receive highly advanced care for complex pregnancies. The center has built a multidisciplinary team with a single shared goal: to provide compassionate, individualized care to mother and baby before, during and after delivery.

Complicated pregnancies and births require a high level of skilled teamwork between referring physicians, specialists, subspecialists and exceptional support staff. Our maternal-fetal medicine specialists work in conjunction with the expectant mother’s referring OB-GYN to provide customized care.

The center provides collaborative care for the complete treatment and management of complicated pregnancies, all in a caring environment focused on the expectant mother and her unborn baby. Our skilled team of experts work together to create a birth plan and provide expert care every step of the way during the expectant mother’s pregnancy.

Expert subspecialty care

If our maternal-fetal medicine specialists determine that advanced care is needed for the health of mother and child, UMMC is able to draw from a large pool of experts - all under one roof. Each pregnancy is unique and may not require the attention of every subspecialty. Our patient navigator will work with the maternal-fetal medicine team to identify which subspecialists will be part of the expectant mothers highly individualized care team.

As part of UMMC's campus in the Wiser Hospital for Women and Children, all the specialists a newborn may need are available 24 hours a day. Our newborn facilities offer state-of-the-art equipment and advanced treatments based on the latest research. A neonatal laboratory and specialized pharmacy are also available onsite.
